The End of the World Preterist Archive
The End of the World Preterist Archive: "Does not Jesus tell them plainly in Matt 24:34 that their generation would not pass until all these things be fulfilled. I know that most that have studied this think that the word generation suddenly takes on a new meaning here, referring not to the Apostles' generation, but to the last generation of the Jewish race living when the Lord returns. A look at these additional verses (Matt 11:16, 12:39, 12:41,42, 45, Mark 8:12, Luke 11:29, 32, as well as many others) in which Jesus uses the words 'this generation', further prove that 'this generation' is always referring to the generation of people living at that time. In addition, to further illustrate the two meanings of the word 'world' in the KJV, look at what the writer of Hebrews says in Heb 9:26, 'For then must He often have suffered since the foundation of the world (kosmos) but now once in the end of the world (aion/age) hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.' Is it not plain here again that the time of His crucifiction is described as taking place at the end of the age? There can be no doubt that the 'age' here is the Mosaic age."
